History

The Rotary Club of Silang was chartered in June 19, 1996 with 27 charter members. Past President Baroq Roque of the Rotary Club of Dasmarinas facilitated the formation. Atty. Ruben Madlansacay, then mayor of Silang became the Charter President.Since its inception, the club holds regular weekly meeting every Wednesday at Villa Luz Hotel and Restaurant, Bypass, Aguinaldo Highway, Silang Cavite.

RC Silang activities were focused on strengthening its membership and organizational capability building, being a new club. It introduced community projects in Silang including: 1. Anti-rabies Campaign 2. Medical & Dental Mission 3. Swine Dispersal Tulong Hanapbuhay 4.Riverbank Reforestation 5. Christmas Gift Giving & 6. Charcoal Briquitting. It also involved in Computer Literacy Program, Rotary Quiz Show, Musical Competition—Silang Musikahan & Feeding Program for the Youth Sector. In 2001, its membership reached a record high of 42 members. RC Carmona was also formed as its first extension club that year.

The club was also engaged in various fundraising activities which include Hataw Para sa Ilog in partnership with RC Sta. Rosa, RI District 3820 and S3R2 Foundation, Bingo Fiesta with Casino Filifino-Tagaytay & Alay Lakad sa Kabataan with Alay Lakad Foundation. One of the most successful projects was the RADIO Concert in 1998 where RC Silang was able to generate PhP 0.5 M fund.

By the end of 2005, RC Silang was mired with the resignation of incumbent president. Subsequently , in early 2006, another setback happened with the resignation of another 14 members. As a measure , an interim leadership was form with CP Ruben Madlansacay as Caretaker President. Organizational policies were reviewed and activities were focused in membership development.

RC Silang has eight active past president. Incoming president Legacy President Dante Salazar aims for a stronger and vibrant club coming this RY 2008-2009 with 22 active members and 3 new members.
